Enhancing students' ability to learn a foreign/second language through learning strategy-based instruction (LSBI) is the focus of this course. This course will address important issues in the research of language learning strategies in second language acquisition and focus on its rationale and theoretical applications to language teaching and learner training.

The course will:

1. Review and discuss learning style and language strategy classifications;
2. Examine the theoretical assumptions, research history, and typology of learning strategies;
3. Consider the benefits and limitations of currently available style and strategy measures;
4. Apply style and strategy theory to specific classroom tasks and lessons;
5. Discuss current and future applications of the concept of language learning strategies to web-based learning environments; and
6. Help you gain a deeper awareness of your own strengths both as a learner and as a teacher.
